Why Indoor Air Health?

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the average American spends about 90% of their time indoors! With so much time spent inside, it makes sense that indoor air quality should be a priority. That’s why Urban Fabric Builders builds to the Indoor airPLUS specifications set forth by the EPA. We’ve blogged a little bit about this program and indoor air quality before, but today, in honor of National Love a Tree Day, we’re exploring an easy solution for purifying indoor air that may already be contaminated by VOCs or other types of harmful toxins: house plants!

But, does it work?

Although the research on the effectiveness of air purification via house plant is somewhat inconclusive, studies have shown that plants can help to eliminate stress by calming the sympathetic nervous system. Additional research indicates that spending time in nature has a positive effect on individual mood and energy levels. So we say, plant away! Check out our gallery of our top 5 favorite house plants for purifying your indoor air below!
